1st World Championship of Italian Draughts - Rome, Italy

Our tournament in Rome has ended - the 1st World Italian
Draughts Championship. I took an honorable 6th place. The first four places
were won by the Italians. This is their game and they played head and
shoulders above all the foreigners. The African player from Kenya Goj
confidently took 5th place. And then there was a tense struggle, where I
distinguished myself in a photo finish. I'm happy with my result, but not
with the game, there are too many simple mistakes.
This year the Italian Draughts Federation celebrated its
100th anniversary, Draughts in Italy are very popular and for this purpose
they received an audience with the Papa Francesco. Undoubtedly, this was the
main event of the celebration and a unique opportunity to see the Pope up
close in the Vatican. Of course, I am happy that I was a participant and
witness of such a significant and Great event.
